Privacy policy

This page explains, in plain terms, exactly what TypingTestFree does and does not do with your data. The short version: there is no account system, nothing you type during a test or practice session is ever sent to a server, and the only data collection on the site is a cookie-free analytics beacon and an anonymous thumbs up or down on the tool itself.

What this site is

TypingTestFree (this domain) is an independent typing speed test and practice tool. It is operated as a small, single-purpose utility site: a timed WPM test on the homepage, an untimed practice mode, and a page of typing speed benchmarks. It is not affiliated with any typing certification body, school testing program, or employer assessment platform; the WPM and CPM figures it reports use the same standard scoring convention those tools use, but the score itself is not an official credential.

Nothing you type ever leaves your browser

The test and practice tools work entirely client-side. The passage you type is generated by JavaScript running in your own browser tab, and every keystroke you type is compared against that passage in the same tab, live, as you type. There is no backend endpoint that receives the text you type, no server-side transcript of your test, and no logging of your keystrokes anywhere.

Your WPM, CPM and accuracy numbers are calculated entirely on your device from that local comparison. Nothing about the specific words you typed, correctly or incorrectly, is transmitted to any server operated by this site.

Local storage: what is saved on your device

This site saves your personal best WPM and accuracy, separately for the timed test and the practice mode, to your browser's own local storage: a small amount of data the browser keeps on your device between visits, similar in spirit to a cookie but not sent to any server automatically. This is what lets the results panel tell you when you have set a new personal best.

This data stays on your device. It is never read by any server, never included in analytics, and is removed automatically if you clear your browser's site data for this domain. No other personal information is stored this way; the only thing saved is your best WPM, accuracy and the date of that result.

Analytics

If enabled, this site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-free analytics service. It does not set any tracking cookie, does not build a cross-site profile of visitors, and does not use any persistent device identifier. It reports aggregate figures, page views, approximate visitor counts, general performance timing, without identifying individual visitors or recording what any specific visitor typed. If analytics is not actively configured for this domain at the time you are reading this, the corresponding script simply does not load at all.

The feedback widget

Below each tool, a small "Was this tool helpful?" prompt lets you send an anonymous thumbs up or thumbs down. Clicking it sends only two pieces of information: which page you voted on, and which button you clicked. No cookie, IP address, or device fingerprint is stored alongside that vote. A note is saved in your browser's local storage purely to stop the prompt from asking again on the same device; that note contains no personal data.

The "Give feedback" link next to the vote buttons opens your own email client with a pre-filled address; nothing is sent unless you choose to write and send an email yourself.

Server requests and basic technical logs

Loading any web page necessarily involves your browser making requests to a server, in this case Cloudflare's infrastructure, which hosts this site. Like effectively every website, baseline connection information (such as IP address and request timestamp) passes through that infrastructure as a normal part of serving the page and is subject to Cloudflare's own standard operational logging, used for security and reliability rather than for tracking individual visitors on behalf of this site. This site does not separately collect, store, or review that information itself.

Third parties

This site does not sell, rent, or share visitor data with third parties, because it does not collect meaningful visitor data to begin with. The only third-party service in use is the optional, cookie-free analytics beacon described above, provided by Cloudflare as part of hosting this site. No advertising network, tracking pixel, or third-party script currently runs on this site. If that changes in the future, for example if a paid advertising slot is added, this page will be updated to reflect it and to name the specific network involved.

Children's privacy

This site does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age, since it does not operate an account system and does not require any personal information to use the test or practice tools. The content itself, generic English word and sentence passages, is general-audience and not directed specifically at children.

Your choices

You can clear your locally stored personal best at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain through your browser's own settings. Because no account exists, there is no login to delete and no server-side profile to request removal of; your browser's local storage is the only place any tool-specific data lives.

Changes to this policy

If the data practices described on this page change, for example if a new feature starts collecting information that was not previously collected, this page will be updated to describe the change plainly, in the same style as the rest of this policy, rather than moved or hidden behind a version history.

Frequently asked questions

Does TypingTestFree use tracking cookies?
No. The optional analytics service in use, if enabled, is cookie-free by design and does not build a profile of individual visitors. No advertising or tracking cookie is set by this site.
Is the text I type stored on a server?
No. All scoring happens in your browser. The only thing saved anywhere is your personal best WPM and accuracy, stored in your own browser's local storage, which is never transmitted to a server.
Do I need an account to use the test or practice tools?
No. There is no sign-up, login, or account system anywhere on this site.
How do I clear my saved personal best?
Clear this site's data through your browser's own privacy settings. That removes the locally stored personal best score completely.
Is my WPM score reported anywhere publicly?
No. There is no leaderboard, public profile, or shared results page. Your score is visible only to you, in your own browser.
